One of the most important functions of the Water Patrol is education. No one knows how many tragedies have been averted or lives saved by training and educating teens and adults in proper boat and snowmobile operations.
Each year, more than 100 young people between the ages of 12 and 17 get their snowmobile operating certificates by passing a Water Patrol Youth Snowmobile Training Class. Volunteer Special Deputies conduct all the classes, which are held in December and January each year.
